We believe that there is an urgent need to defend citizens’ basic rights and freedoms, stemming from the simultaneous attacks on human rights, civil liberties, and social justice in the country today. The difficulties posed by the contemporary assault on social, economic, civil and political rights present moments of opportunity. No doubt we live in a society fraught with inequalities, discrimination, bias and prejudice, but daily, we bear witness to the resilient efforts of people to challenge this reality, either through individual acts of defiance and resistance or through collective forms. The All India Lawyers’ Association for Justice (AILAJ) is a pan-India organisation of lawyers and law students which aims to build a critique of and pose a challenge to the contemporary order as well as push the boundaries of the law to realise the dream of an egalitarian world.
AILAJ is also concerned with the welfare of lawyers and law students.
It has chapters in multiple states including Karnataka, Odisha, Delhi, and West Bengal.
